Layout No. 2 for Calvinball 2022 Rules used - Single layout, Green, Blue and Yellow (Distress Oxides Prize Ribbon and Mustard Seed smooched together), Stencil (Raindrops), Silver (Texture Paste and Glitter Kiss/Creative Expressions mixed together), Tropical flowers or leaves, stamping, date, arrow, camera. Record breaking rain over Australia's east coast has flooded towns and cities in Queensland and New South Wales (NSW), submerging thousands of homes and business and unfortunately there has been people who have lost their lives.  I live on the Central Coast of NSW and whilst I, my brother and his wife, and my sister are safe in our homes, we have not escaped the record rainfall that is expected to continue for several days more. Kaszazz recently released a set of 4 animal skin stencils.  I was able to to create with them pre-release and here is what I created with the Snake, Giraffe and Leopard skins, there is also a Cheetah skin:  I put out a request to my friend Kathy in Detroit, Michigan to take some photos of animals in zoos near her as I knew I would not be heading to a zoo anytime soon.  Kathy will shortly be starting as a volunteer in Detroit Zoo once they re-open following Covid restrictions.  Papers and stamps are from Kaszazz Resort collection. What is Calvinball? In my post yesterday I shared a single page layout I had created.  I have now added a pocket page to make it a double layout. Here is a shabby chic layout I have completed.  The photo was taken on my birthday in December whilst in Hawaii.  I have used papers and stamps from Kaszazz Resort collection and all other product used is also Kaszazz.  I started by laying the frame, without any adhesive, onto the striped paper and using pencil marks to indicate where it would lay.  I then cut strips to each of the marks and distressed the edges. See below. A half sheet of blue Designer Paper was then placed behind the distressed edges. The next step was to mix a small amount of Leaf Green Archival Ink into texture paste and then apply though Leaves stencil.  Moving to different angles as I progressed.  I also lifted some of the texture paste from areas between each leaf. For the Flourish Frame I first used white embossing powder (note I did emboss it twice). and then I applied Broken China Oxide Distress ink and then whipped over with a tissue to get affect. Here are the cards I designed for the community group I lead on Fridays. One of the ladies requested a card that featured an owl. I have been working with many of ladies for awhile now and have got to know what techniques that they like and what maybe their favourite.  Some of them do not like colouring in - so for these cards I chose techniques that did not require any colouring in.  Here are the cards close up. For this card you stamp the stamp image on to patterned paper/s, fussy cut out then apply to card.  The stamps and gold tapes are from Kaszazz. The rest from my stash. This card uses what is called the direct to paper method in that you take the stamp pad (in this case it was turquoise) and you slide it across the paper.  You get a different result each time you do it.  The owls are made with an owl punch in two different colours again - no colouring in on this card!  This card was inspired by one I found by Michelle Zindorf on the intern...

Here is a card I designed for our Kaszazz team meeting make and take yesterday: I have used all Kaszazz products, that are available through me (yes I am a consultant) or your consultant of choice, on the card.   The card uses stamps and paper available with the Resort Collection.  As  you can see this card as a fancy fold - see below.  There is masking of leaves on the inside of the cards. Also, there is some fussy cutting involved.  The colouring has been done with Kaszazz Alcohol Ink markers and Aqua Noir black marker. Here are the images that will be fussy cut and applied to the card. Not sure how to mask? Firstly stamp your image onto a piece of scrap paper or post-it note cut around this just inside the lines.   You then place the masks over previously stamped image on your card (or scrapbook layout) as you can see I used a small piece of washi tape to hold down mask whilst I stamped the next leaf images - see first photo for the result....

This is a long post.  Hope you stay with me. What is a gel plate I hear you ask - unless you have used these previously you may wonder what they are.  Straight from the web is this description "gel printing plates look and feel like gelatin, but are durable, reusuable and store at room temperature. They are easy to clean and always ready for printing." I recently went to a gel plate workshop, held at Time to Create in Modanville (near Lismore NSW). The tutor was Birgit Koopsen from The Netherlands.  Whilst I had a great time playing with my gel plate, inks, stamps, Pan Pastels and more, I realized that I needed to get a better grip on the basics.   So that is what I did today.  How come today?
