Stamps Ahead

The Sydney Opera House is one of my favourite buildings in the world. It has inspired me over the years in my artistic endeavours.  Therefore, leaving Sydney on a cruise is always a perfect opportunity to take more photos! Grid style using up 4 project life cards from my stash - so many more to go!  Do they multiply in the drawer!  2 days ago I posted a layout made with Project Life cards and in it I had mentioned that I was playing with upcycling some more cards.   Here are three I have made and I can see more on my horizon: I love them and I love upcycling - it is something that I am passionate about.  I am adding to the challenge at Paper Issues (Friends and Fans) .  These tags share a common theme - I used what I had close to me - well, I did have to find the old dictionary and book in my stash.  Sometime last year I purchased at an op shop the book "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" as I had seen some Pinterest posts of people using it.  The book was of poor quality, previously loved and showed signs of aging.  The lace was given to me by a friend who knew I loved lace and would find a use for it.  The tags could be used in cardmaking, scrapbooking, in junk journals or really anything.  Thank you for looking, Margaret I found this definition on the web...

On Christmas Day evening, we walked from our hotel to view the Laserlight show on the waterfront. This double page layout shows photos from that show.  A kind professional wildlife photographer next to us showed us how to use the manual settings on our cameras. This page uses Stampin'Up! Project Life (all retired) product and a co-ordinating cardstock. I purposefully left this page plain, as I wanted the focus to be on the photo, in particular the top photo taken by me with my new found manual camera setting skills.  I was so pleased with the result. I am getting a tad excited - my European holiday very shortly.  Christmas markets in Europe, now what is not to like about that.   The tour starts in Paris so I am getting some pages ready for my photos when I return - I know organised - but hey that is me! It is cold and wet here on the Central Coast today, so what a better reason to get some layouts completed.  This one is for a challenge over at The Memory Nest Make it Monday No.48. These photos had been sitting for some time I was wondering what to do with them.  The photos here of Jason's shirt don't show the intensity of the flouro green that it was....Last night I took some kraft cardstock and with white gesso painted it.  After it dried (not long as we have been having some hot summer evenings here) I applied a mixture of green and yellow Gelato crayons to try and match the colour of the shirt.  Then into my stash I went and found Project Life Honey Edition papers and cards = perfect to match all the different colours in the photos. Stickers and drawn lines completed the layout. Thank you Bax family for your friendship and I love catching up with you when I am in Missouri and remembering the adventures we shared with many more to come I am sure.

Feeling nostalgic?  I visited Anne of Green Gables Museum, in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada on 21st June this  year. This layout inspired by Sketch 98 at Feeling Sketchy . I came across their blog as I was seeking inspiration for the multitude of photos I have from my recent holiday (vacation).  This little girl was visiting the same day as I did - she looked so peaceful as she posed for a photo under the tree outside the house that inspired Anne of Green Gables. I asked her mother for permission to photograph her.  The badges and hats I purchased in the museum shop and the journaling is on a card that one of the badges was on.  The paper I have used is from Project Life Collection -  Sunshine Collection.  I hand cut the banner from one of the pages in the range. I also did a companion page - this time using a postcard I purchased. Canada's smallest province features one of the country's largest tourist attractions....

Over at ARTa stic Challenge Blog their current challenge inspiration is this photo with the criteria -striped patterned paper and bright cheerful colours. My layout was inspired by the stripes in the deck chair on the poster.  I have used striped paper from a Project Life range called Sunshine (also appropriate don't you think for the poster). In a moment of creativity I realized I had a pot of fine glitter somewhere in my stash. Off I went to find it.  I ran lengths of double sided tape in 2 sizes (mimicking) that deckchair horizontally and vertically onto striped paper and then on removing top tape I liberally applied the glitter.  Result - glitter all over the place - oh well, who does not like a bit of bling. I have also made my own brads and circle embellishments from the off cuts of the "blingy bits" another inspired moment - I remembered I had the fixings for the brads again somewhere in that great stash in the hope that one day I will use it!!...

I have used mostly Project Life (PL) papers on these traditional scrapbook layouts, they come from the PL range called Honey Edition by Becky Higgins. Not a good day for photography today in Sydney it is cold and threatening to rain!!!  A good reason to stay in and do more layouts.!!! This first layout is of my friends youngest son in Missouri.   I love how I could make the arrow with the journaling cards.  "awesome" is a favourite word of ours - it is chipboard that I have coloured with orange stamp ink. The dragon fly die is Elizabeth Craft Designs and I have embossed the wings before adhering.  You will see that I am also loving Studio Calico wood veneer stars at the moment. Love that Cole is growing into an awesome young man who has a natural affinity with nature.
