Stamps Ahead

Here are 3 fun and colourful whimsical houses I created this morning. I used some bright papers and cut the whimiscal shapes and attached to cardstock with glue stick and then I machine stitched around I was inspired by a photo my friends, Jenny and Lyn took in August in Qaqortoq, a Southern Greenland cruise port. They have been on 3 month journey around the world and this was one of the ports they called into. Inspired by a You Tube video from Natasha at Treasure Books I decided to have a go at making some whimsical tags.  I had Christmas scrapbook paper and scraps sitting on my table They are all different sizes approximately 3" x 5" in size (7.5cm x 13cm). They did not take long to create.  Great to use in a junk journal as tags, journalling spots or attached with paper clips.  Why not for Christmas tags to add to gifts or hung on a tree. My sister chose the bottom one and she will add to her 2024 Christmas journal. Just how easy is it to get side-tracked I was clearing up my craft stash and came across these papers - of course had to stop and make these tags!  Cleaning up can wait!!!   Thank you, Treasure Books for the inspiration and thank you to my readers - Merry Christmas to you and yours.  2 days ago I posted a layout made with Project Life cards and in it I had mentioned that I was playing with upcycling some more cards.   Here are three I have made and I can see more on my horizon: I love them and I love upcycling - it is something that I am passionate about.  I am adding to the challenge at Paper Issues (Friends and Fans) .  These tags share a common theme - I used what I had close to me - well, I did have to find the old dictionary and book in my stash.  Sometime last year I purchased at an op shop the book "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" as I had seen some Pinterest posts of people using it.  The book was of poor quality, previously loved and showed signs of aging.  The lace was given to me by a friend who knew I loved lace and would find a use for it.  The tags could be used in cardmaking, scrapbooking, in junk journals or really anything.  Thank you for looking, Margaret I found this definition on the web...

Today, I delved into the world of mixed media again.  Here are two tags I made testing out the skills required as I have a larger project in mind. In real life they have a sheen courtesy of Pewter Ranger Distress Spray.  Here is what they looked like before I added the spray inks over the gesso. I was inspired by this blog I found whilst looking for ideas.  It has been a great starting off point for me.   I have used Dylusions Sprays and finished the tag off with a spray of Pewter Ranger Distress Spray. Now I have the confidence to go further with the idea I have in my head. Thank you for looking,  Margaret

Today, I am sure there will more weather records broken, so hot at 6am and just getting hotter.  No better reason that to be staying indoors with the air-con on (I am lucky to have it and will just pay the bill when I get it!!)   I have been playing along with CreativeKady  who has been creating tags. The first in her series was to make your own tissue paper.  My finished tag: First you need tissue paper (I did not have any white and I was not heading down to shops to get any in this heat) so another option was to use the second ply from a dinner napkin.  Then gather stamps together and using black waterproof ink stamp randomly,  Then select portion to use, apply to tag using matt gel medium.  Let dry. Finally, I sponged on Ranger Distress inks to colour my tag. After I tidied up the edges I ran a black Gelato around the edges and smudged with my fingers.   I did apply a layer of Faber Castle Glaze on top (and boy did tha...
