Stamps Ahead

This weekend I am participating in the June Cyber Challenges over at White with 1 Facebook page.  Here is my layout for a scavenger hunt, more about this below: The scavenger hunt - we were to search our stash and find the following: 12 x 12 patterned paper from a manufacturer of two words (eg Jillibean Soup). Manufacturers name to be shown.   Something you can use to get messy A journal card Something felt A tag A word in any form 1 piece of 6 x 6 paper Some bling. Here is what I sourced out of my stash: The hardest and longest to find was 'something felt' finally found those blue stars squashed into a corner.  In making the layout, I added other papers and stickers from the Echo Park Magical Adventure range.  Thank you for looking, I love Disneyland and my photos show what the daily line up for both parks looked like each day.  The last time I visited was in May, 2018.  Thank you for looking, Margaret Crafting in the time of Coronavirus.

Here is a layout and card I completed for a challenge over at White with 1 April Cyber Crop.  Well, I cannot enter it as the cut-off date was 1st May (call it isolation brain)....but the grid layout and colour stumped me!!   I got in my head 'grid' and created one layout that of course did not contain blue.  And then the colour! I was thinking light blue, blue flowers, of course nothing in my photos! A long post! The challenge was to create a layout and matching card : Have I created a new technique for my background?  It came to me as I was in slumberland last night. I decided to use my paints from the layout I did for Cocoa Vanilla challenges, as they were out as I had not put them away.  So I created a grid.  Let me show you the process. To get the grid - I first penciled in the lines and then using my brush and ruler painted in the grid lines.  Being sure, to clean the ruler after each line was added!  Learnt that the hard way - ...

There is currently a challenge over at Soul Scrappers to create a layout with the theme Travel. Here is what I came up with: One of my most favourite places to travel is to Disneyland/Disney themed parks.  This photo was taken at Disneyland in California, USA last year. In my last post I had photos of my experiments with my gel plate.  I used the pink/purple prints I made. The stamps, papers and chipboard are from Kasazz. The stencil was in my stash. I was inspired by a layout I saw on Pinterest to create the squares and place onto card stock. Of course, I cannot find the layout despite several hours once again searching for it and getting distracted by all the inspiration out there. I really like the finished layout and I hope you do as well. Thank you for looking, Margaret

Okay, so I didn't complete challenges 1 and 2 as yet. Challenge 4 was put up so I  went with it.  Here is my layout: It is no shock to know that pink is my favourite colour .... all shades. The bonus points for this round were: Use memorabilia.  I have used pieces of guipure lace that belonged to my mother, they are many years old as she passed away at a very young age, only 49. She was a tailoress/dressmaker and I have put in a die cut pair of scissors to recognise this.  Use  a stamp.  I used 3 stamps ... 2 bottom left and grunge spots thoughout the layout. Use a black and white photo.  The selfie photo was taken at Disneyland, LA last year as I rode the train around the park in very hot weather.  If you look closely I printed it with a slight hue to co-ordinate with papers I chose. Hope this is acceptable. Print or put away 5 layouts.  Done, put into album the layouts I designed for weekend fund raiser and others just sitting aro...

Here is a layout I created today based on a challenge at Paper Issues . I came across this fabulous floor and sign as I entered one of the exhibitions at California Disney.  I love visiting Disneyland when I travel to USA (This was my third visit and the first to California Disney).  I have gone a little 'off piste' as they  say but I did not want to cut my photos down. I was inspired by the stars on the sketch and went with that them to fit in with my photo - some texture paste coloured with gold and applied through a star stencil, and then bits and pieces from my stash. The dark patterned paper whilst it does not have stars was a perfect match as the flowers looked like stars! Another layout completed for the cybercrop over at Scrappingclearly share and inspire facebook group. This was for a scraplift challenge with a layout by Marelle Jackman in at 6" x 12" layout format. I was drawn to the mixed media elements especially the paints and colourful layout. I started out attempting a 6" x 12" layout however I just could not come to grips with it, so I added this smaller piece to a piece of red CS. My photo was taken just prior to leaving my hotel and heading for Disneyland for the day.   Here is a close up of my detail in the middle piece. I love the transparency of the paint over my inked background of heart shaped bubble wrap. Thank you for looking, have a great day.   Margaret.

Why the title of this post? More about that later in the post. Who doesn't like a parade.  Here is a double page layout I have created for another challenge over at Soul Scrappers The challenge was? I hear you ask - MUSIC and to document any outdoor concert.  I am convinced that a street parade at Disneyland counts as an outdoor concert - look there is a band!  This day was very hot Anaheim and I found a bench on a porch just right for waiting for the street parade to begin at about 3.30pm...with lots of water at the ready to keep me hydrated. I have gone for very sweet colours in this layout as right across from where I was sitting was the Candy Palace and this was the inspiration for the colours I used. This weekend I am participating in an on-line spring crop run by Paper Issues.  Check them out on facebook. Here is my first layout: In this crop we were to be inspired by the work of Cassie Box and I selected her layout posted on 18th April, 2018 as inspiration. I am preparing for a visit to Disneyland later in the year so there is no photo on my layout as yet.  I used patterned papers and stickers from Simple Stories Say Cheese 111. Sequins and cardstock from my stash. Thank you for looking, off to do more layouts this weekend, as it seems Autumn has finally arrived in my neighbourhood here in Australia, good to stay indoors away from the cold and rain - not complaining we really need it here, even in the more populated areas.
