Stamps Ahead

Recently I completed several classes with the fabulous Beck Beattie at Paperific 2017 in Melbourne.  Of course, a photo had to be taken - we are scrapbookers after all.  Here is a layout I created this week. I have used some of Beck's Tinby Designs watercolor powders - first I sprayed the white cardstock with diluted powder, I did not like the resulting colours - too pink - so I mixed some of the powder with Gesso and liberally swiped it across the page.  Using bits and pieces from my stash I then embellished the page, ooh yes I also used a script stencil with gesso to give more texture.   Check out Beck's link above to see what she gets up to and what products she in her on-line shop.   Thanks for looking, Margaret :)

To say that I loved the sunrise at Uluru on my recent trip would be an understatement.  Recently, I went down to Melbourne for Paperific and did a couple of classes with Beck Beattie . Here are my layouts of course getting home I realized that I used 2 more sunrise photos. This layout is on craft coloured cardstock - it uses Distress Oxide Inks and Distress Inks and lots and lots of layers. This layout uses Beck's Color Crush watercolour powders - check them out at Scrappy Chat Designs . She has added more colours to her range.  This layout after applying the Color Crush that had been watered down and sprayed on we used all those stamps that you might have in your stash to create a unique background.   Big stamps, small stamps, script stamps, etc etc they all can be used. I was recently asked to lead an advanced cardmaking class, and my mind immediately went I want to do a mixed media card.  It take the participants 1.5 hours to make the card below: Ingredients: Kaisercraft Sage & Grace papers, Tinby Designs Color Crush Raspberry as a spray, heart handmade with paper pulp and painted with white acrylic paint, Stampin' Up! embossing paste through a mask of their choosing, Distress Ink and stamping completes the card. For the heart I punched out a heart onto white cardstock and then applied the paper pulp with my fingers allowing it to dry overnight.  I did make all them before the class.  The ladies got to make a smaller one on the day to use later at home when it had dried. Well, I did finish all 6 Australia Day challenges over at Scrappingclearly .  Here is my layout for the final challenge The photograph is of a friends granddaughter and was taken when we all went to a park in Queensland. I have loved the bright colours of Isabelle's skirt and top and was just waiting for the right time to put it onto a layout.   Well, this challenge below Now, I am going to admit that I found this one to be the most challenging for me - I did not have any leather or cork or such and the colour of the challenge board had me thinking neutrals.  So I went off in search of what I could use, I found some calico and twine I had previously dyed with Tinby watercolour powders - YES and then found some hessian (or burlap as they say in USA), that had a previous life as a wrap around a bottle, with pink lace on it - perfect for the photo.  Perfect and together with some old old stickers that co-ordinated I completed the layout.    O...

The next to last challenge over a Scrap Girls Retreat at home was simply "Get Messy" - here is my layout: Now get messy I did, the kitchen (aka the workroom), the layout all got messy.  First of all I used Tinby Designs Colour Crush watercolour powders to create the background. Now of course, I could not find a spray bottle that had a fine mist, so I had to use one that had only one spray coming out of it.  Never mind I like the result.  Finished of with bits of co-ordinating papers and threads from my stash.  Now I mounted the photograph, of sunrise at Corindi Beach, with foam tape, it fell onto the layout and an angle and of course it would not lift off, and then to boot it buckled on the page. I am participating in a challenge at Soul Scrappers  where we are to use a "travel" quote on a layout.Here is my layout: I have used Tinby Designs Colour Crush Watercolour powder in Black Berry to create the background.  I love that you can use left over bits and pieces to create the random photo mat. The photo was taken at Buderim Rainforest Walk and Falls as I rested before heading back up to the end of walk. Great day it was to be out and about wandering. I watered down some the powders and dyed some twine and fabric - I did not use as I did not like the resulting colour as it was more pink than red I wanted.  They will be used on another project later. This past weekend I went down to Melbourne and did a couple of classes with Beck Beattie at Paperfic Expo.  This layout uses Beck's Colour Crush powders.  They are so much fun - and they explode before your eyes when you spray water.  Just the right background for the photos of my friends children blowing bubbles with the bubble sets I gave them when I visited Queensland this year.  I have kept it rather simple as I did not want to cover up too much of the fab background. Here is a close up. The class below was called Reverse Canvas and it uses many techniques. The cheesecloth and twine were coloured using water downed Colour Crush powders. The other interesting new technique I used on this canvas was paper clay to make the heart more 3 dimensional and I will certainly be trying many of these techniques again. Thanks Beck.
