Stamps Ahead

Here is a layout I have created for White with 1  Earth Cyber Crop that is on this weekend. This layout is for their first challenge  The challenge was White with Earthy Brown with theme Exploring the Outdoors and to use either wood veneer or chipboard.  The story of the photos.  For several years in 1970's and 80's I was a Girl Guide Leader. The Sydney Opera House was opened Queen Elizabeth 11 on 20 October, 1973, so of course the Girls Guides and Leaders headed to Sydney to wait for the Queen to pass by - it was an early start and a long wait for her car to arrive.  Eventually, it was time - there she is - cameras at the ready to capture this moment in time. Well, my photo does show her gloved 'wave' as she passed us by and this was the only view that we got on the day!  Here is a layout I have created today for a Tic Tac Toe challenge over at Soul Scrappers Challenges The challenge board - I choose twine, black and white photo and one-word sentiment. The photo is of our grandfather (Pop) standing beside the Crawford Road street sign.  I estimate the photo was taken in about 1970 or earlier.  Google tells me that Neptune Oil was sold to Shell in 1975. From Lake Macquarie Library community history an entry records "Crawford Road was named after a local resident in 1930's by R.H.Marshall, the timekeeper of the relief workers road gangs. A locally name road it appears to have been named officially in 1948." As a family, we know that our grandparents had a dairy and residence in Crawford Road. This past weekend I was on a scrapbooking retreat and I managed to complete several pages - I will be sharing with you however some were for individual challenges and so I am posting them first. This layout was for a challenge over at ARTastic Challenge Blog  and their challenge criteria was Vintage style. At little about the photo.  It is a photo of my grandfather, who we called Pop.  It shows him in his garden beside some climbing roses.  It is how I remember him - he always had his pipe, his braces and mostly wore his slippers.  He came from County Derry, Ireland in 1900 and he never lost his Irish accent on certain words.  This layout started completely different, I had plans to use a photo of the seaside, but when I found this photo I knew that I had to use it.  It seems strange using pink on a masculine page, don't you think, however the pink climbing roses dictated the colour scheme.  I made the tags, the large pink flower and the fl...

Here are a few more layouts that I created on a recent scrapbook retreat weekend that I attended. The first one is of our old family home in Asquith, New South Wales. This was my grandparents home (you can see them on the front porch) and we spent a good deal of time with them and even moved in when our rented place (one street away) was sold.   So many happy memories of time there. Scrapbook retreat fun - tropical theme.  I smile everytime I look at the right hand photo - it looks as though I am wearing an elaborate headdress!!!   Papers and embellishments from Close to my Heart (CTMH).  Tropical seems to be a current trend in the papercraft world, love the washi tape and the pink adhesive sequins.... This photograph was found in a suitcase of photographs that belonged to my dad's brother that was given to me on the death of my uncle.  The photograph is showing it's age and was calling out to be saved.The photo shows my mother centre and her sister to her left (the tall one) was chief bridesmaid and a friend was the other bridesmaid and the flowergirl was the daughter of another friend. My mother made all the dresses as well as her going away outfit.  This layout was for a challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges  to creatively frame a photograph. I went to my stash and endeavoured to find embellishments that reflect some of the details of the photograph.  I used Graphic 45 paper and inked the edges with Tim Holtz tattered rose Distress Ink, the paper matting the photo was first distressed and then inked.
