Stamps Ahead

Recently I completed several classes with the fabulous Beck Beattie at Paperific 2017 in Melbourne.  Of course, a photo had to be taken - we are scrapbookers after all.  Here is a layout I created this week. I have used some of Beck's Tinby Designs watercolor powders - first I sprayed the white cardstock with diluted powder, I did not like the resulting colours - too pink - so I mixed some of the powder with Gesso and liberally swiped it across the page.  Using bits and pieces from my stash I then embellished the page, ooh yes I also used a script stencil with gesso to give more texture.   Check out Beck's link above to see what she gets up to and what products she in her on-line shop.   Thanks for looking, Margaret :)

To say that I loved the sunrise at Uluru on my recent trip would be an understatement.  Recently, I went down to Melbourne for Paperific and did a couple of classes with Beck Beattie . Here are my layouts of course getting home I realized that I used 2 more sunrise photos. This layout is on craft coloured cardstock - it uses Distress Oxide Inks and Distress Inks and lots and lots of layers. This layout uses Beck's Color Crush watercolour powders - check them out at Scrappy Chat Designs . She has added more colours to her range.  This layout after applying the Color Crush that had been watered down and sprayed on we used all those stamps that you might have in your stash to create a unique background.   Big stamps, small stamps, script stamps, etc etc they all can be used. 2016 saw me delve a little more in Mixed Media for scrapbook layouts and cards.  I was able to attend several classes by the very talented Beck Beattie  firstly in Brisbane and then Melbourne.  That's right have need will travel.  Her inspiration layout will be at end of this post.  Here is mine: The first inspiration from Beck's layout was the placement of the patterned papers.  I have yet to journal. Some adventures of my own with Embossing paste with a circle design, flourishes that I die cut in white and then stamped colour onto.  Most favourite discovery of mine - I was looking to do flowers and could not find just the right embossing folder, stamp etc the aha moment - earlier in the week I was using paper table napkins to create my own tissue paper - hey, why not use a paper napkin with the die cut. This past weekend I went down to Melbourne and did a couple of classes with Beck Beattie at Paperfic Expo.  This layout uses Beck's Colour Crush powders.  They are so much fun - and they explode before your eyes when you spray water.  Just the right background for the photos of my friends children blowing bubbles with the bubble sets I gave them when I visited Queensland this year.  I have kept it rather simple as I did not want to cover up too much of the fab background. Here is a close up. The class below was called Reverse Canvas and it uses many techniques. The cheesecloth and twine were coloured using water downed Colour Crush powders. The other interesting new technique I used on this canvas was paper clay to make the heart more 3 dimensional and I will certainly be trying many of these techniques again. Thanks Beck. Another layout today for a challenge at Soul Scrappers  we were to be inspired by a layout from the wonderful Beck Beattie - here is my layout: and here is the inspiration layout I was inspired by the gesso/painted background, the colours Beck used on her layout (when printed out I saw she used pink as well) and the placement of strips of paper. My photographs were taken when I was visiting my friends in Buderim, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia recently.  Emma (aged 7) showed me how to download a photo collage app for my Samsung Tablet and she then walked me through how to 'work' it.  Yes, you can learn something new everyday.  I resisted putting dog ears and noses on us though.... I have decided to play along with a challenge over at Pixels and Paper challenge blog  - here is my layout.  The challenge was to use distressing in some form on your layout. On the recent long weekend I travelled up to Brisbane to Scrapbook and Paper Expo and one of the classes I did with Beck Beattie was playing with all different backgrounds using watercolour paints. This background was made by sweeping 3 colours from a palette of watercolour paints across the white background. See photo below for what I mean by a palette.  I think I got these many years ago in America and have never used them.....until today. The photo is of Beck Beattie and I taken on the weekend. I then coloured some whitecard stock with the colours I used for background and a green to make the flowers and leaves and to embellish the title "Make Amazing Happen".  I used my scissors to distress the edges, then scrunched them up, then sprayed with water and allowed to dry. This past weekend in Australia was a long one - Queen's Birthday - and I decided at relatively the last minute to go to Scrapbook and Paper Expo in Brisbane, Queensland.  I took the train on Friday - it left Gosford at 4pm and got into Brisbane at 5.30am.  A taxi to my accommodation in South Brisbane, a quick nap, shower and some breakfast I was off to the Convention Centre.  I had booked into several classes and here is some of what I created: I did a class with the fabulous Fiona Paltridge "All my heart" - here is my heart.
