Stamps Ahead

The challenge this month at ARTastic Challenge blog is to be inspired by the artwork by Luka Va called "Bird King" shown below, with the added criteria of wood veneer and/or birds:  I have had this photo of a pigeon on the top of The Empire State Building in New York sitting since a previous visit nearly 5 years ago - just loved it but just could not find the right layout for it - and then Voila this challenge!  I have used up some of my stash - a beautiful fabric bird (there is still one left), some cut outs of colour birds and a strip of patterned paper with birds in a row and a wood veneer arrow stamped black (it is probably the newest item on the page). I was away this weekend on a Scrapbooking Retreat and whilst there managed to get quite a few pages completed.  Here are some I am sharing with you.  Hope you enjoy scrolling down.  This first one is of my friend Reta and I - it was taken whilst we had lunch at a Cracker Barrel in  Kentucky. Reta is 91 years young and it has been many years of friendship between us. The papers and stickers are from Kaisercraft Tea Break Collection and the die-cut accents are from s.e.i that I won at the Mega Scrapbook. Love how the unrelated collections all come together.The inspiration for this layout came from scrapbook ideas magazine, page 78 layout by Karen Leonard. These photos were taken during my visit to Warner Bros Studio - by the magic of the green screen I am transported to the world of Harry Potter. I hand cut the arrow. Blanchard Caverns in Arkansas - a magnificent wander through these caves.  It was hot outside but in the caves it was 53f....

Okay, so I got motivated to do a few layouts recently, here is one of them.  I recently received mail from New York via FedEx and I excitedly followed its route to Australia.  This layout was fun to put together, lots of primary colour to play with.  I have distressed my papers with mist, the arrows were from punch and then I used the negative space to use on the background paper.   Washi tape and some word bubble dies complete the look.   I hope you enjoy looking at this layout.
