Stamps Ahead

This week and during the Calvinball crop this afternoon, I finished off designing the cards for the community card group I lead on a Friday.  I try to find designs that suit all levels of experience and likes of the ladies (sorry, no men have registered for the classes).  Here are this weeks: This card uses a new stamp called Tulip from the Kaszazz Spring Meadow collection.  The image has first been embossed with gold embossing powder and then using Watercolour pencils and a Ranger waterbrush the image is coloured in.   This is an interesting card fold that I found on Pinterest that many people have used.  The white cardstock as been folded in half and attached to single pieces of cardstock at the back.  An almost Art Deco feel to the card.   Now once again, I have been looking at Pinterest for the second card for this week and came across this rather simple to put together card.  There is an added bonus they will get to make 2 cards wit...

A layout for 2nd challenge at Scrappingclearly Virtual Cyber Crop on this weekend: The challenge - Use paint, tissue paper, cotton thread, stamping and patterned paper on your project. This is what I did: Using Kaszazz watercolour paper 12" x 12" and some scraps and using watercolour paints (the round ones in those cute round towers) I created my background. with colours that I saw in the photo. The scraps I painted I used Sizzix Thinlet Poinsettia die to cut out flowers, leaves and flower centres. I took a piece of patterned paper from my stash that matched the colours and attach this to Tim Holtz Idea-ology plain tissue paper, sewn together with a black thread.   I fringed the tissue paper.  I did not want coloured or patterned tissue as I wanted the colours to remain in the tones selected.  Stamps are from an old Stampin' Up! set called Crazy about you. Last Sunday, I went for a walk along the beach that is just up the road from me.  I was having morning tea at the beach café when I saw Santa coming onto the beach (from a surfboard I believe), I quickly grabbed my camera, of course!  Here is the layout I have completed: I am adding this to a Tic Tac Toe challenge over at Soul Scrappers , here is the grid we were given. I selected the left hand column. This Santa arriving reminded me of a Christmas that I had in Hawaii a couple of  years ago.  One of the highlights was seeing their Santa arrive, by inflatable lifeboat, and the faces and smiles of all the young kids and the not so young. Time for one more post before I head off to bed........this is another card I developed for the group of ladies at local community group. This card uses Tim Holtz Alteration die called Sewing Room and some free stamps that were included in a magazine some time ago.  Other bits and pieces are from my stash. The card is square. My mother was a tailoress and taught my sister and I to sew, knit and embroider therefore this card reminds me of her skills.   Once again, I am going to post this to Soul Scrappers   for their challenge to use a die on a card. Sharing today a card I designed for the ladies from the class I lead at a local community centre.  I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest . This artist, Anne Tuck, had in turn been inspired by a card she found on Pinterest. Her card used paint card samples - I went with cardstock and glossy cardstock. My card uses die cuts for Butterfly (Stampin' Up!) and Delicate Fern (Memory Box Inc).  The leaves, in the background, were squares with 2 opposite corners punched with corner rounder. The butterfly was created using glossy paper with Distress Oxide Inks rubbed onto it and then die cut. There is a card challenge over at Soul Scrappers to use die cut on a card...I think this one meets that criteria. Thank you for looking. Margaret 😊

Today I am sharing 10 ATC's that I have created to be swapped with others over at Soul Scrappers . The theme was Paris. Paris is one of my favourite cities and the Eiffel Tower is iconic to them.  A close up of one of the cards. To make the ATC's I first applied a coat of Gesso to a 12" square piece of regular cardstock and allowed it to dry.  Then I cut into 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" cards.  Next I dabbed 3 colours of acrylic paint to top of each card and using a palette knife 'swooshed' them down and across the card.  These were then allowed to dry before adding gold embossing paste to a butterfly stencil.  Again, left to dry overnight. This morning I stamped a script stamp on the top, and added a die cut Eiffel Tower from gold cardstock which I affixed to the card.  Then I added the Journey stamp, and some doodling and rhinestones completed each card. They are off the USA tomorrow and I will await the return of 9 other cards from the other particip...

Today I made this cute little card, I was inspired by a challenge over at Soul Scrappers  to use a reindeer and die-cut.  Well, I covered both of these with this cute die. I used a free die that was included in Di-cutting essentials magazine, which is probably still available at your local newsagency.  I had the background patterned paper I used in my stash - it has a design of trees on it.  Yes, appropriate.  I did die cut the tree in the cardstock and applied with dimensional tape.  Here is a close up of that element. Inside I placed some of the die cut stars onto white cardstock. I really like this die and I can see many more uses for it.
