Stamps Ahead

From 29th May and throughout June, in Australia, is The Biggest Morning Tea - a community event to raise vital funds for to make a difference to those impacted by cancer.  This week I held two card making events with the community groups where I lead card classes.   Here are the cards that I designed  Participants could chose the Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the stamp sets they used. I was inspired by an American Stampin' Up! demonstrator "Stamp your art out with Rachel"  that I found whilst searching for cards using DSP and stamps from the New Horizons collection that I fell in love when when I first saw it.  The workshops, that I lead, were open to all and some ladies and included some had not done card-making or stamping before (I tried to get the men to make a card at one of the groups but alas they did not make one - there is always next year) so I wanted a card that was relatively easy to make and provided a WOW.   I did leave Rachel a th...

Yesterday I participated in a Biggest Morning Tea (BMT) event.  BMT is a community event that raises vital funds to make a big difference for those impacted by cancer.  The event I attended was organised by one of the community groups where I lead cardmaking classes.  Here is a card I designed especially for the day. I set up a table and participants could join me and make the card for a gold coin donation.  I supplied all the materials to make the card.  Several non stampers joined me at the table to make a card.   The card background was made with Distress Oxide Inks - Wilted Violet and Squeezed Lemonade or Dusty Concord and Fossiled Amber. The two colours were wiped across a clear acrylic block, water mister applied and then put face down onto watercolour paper.  After a quick zap with the heat gun, the stamped images were applied.  Then it was applied to background mat (they had a choice of colours in yellow, purples or black) and then to...

Over the past couple of days I have been making paper 'snippet' rolls.  What are they I hear you ask? Firstly, let me show you what I have made with my 'snippets; Here is a definition I found on the web " A snippet roll is a  long strip of paper or fabric that is decorated with bits and pieces of paper, fabric and findings . The person making the snippet roll determines the length and width of the roll. There are no rules as to how long or wide a snippet roll must be."  I was fascinated as I searched further and further on the web.  So I had a go using paper scraps!  My thing then became what would I do with them?    There is a market/fair coming up in September.  My sister saw the larger Tyvek pencil cases (4) on special at Typo and I found the smaller pencil cases at Kmart.  Perfect to place the my snippets on.   I also showed my sister how to make them and she has made hers for the front of art/faith journals that will also be so...

What do you do? There are many ways to use up left over scraps of paper and embellishments. This notebook (and 5 others) I made for myself and to give away. These were made using products available from Kaszazz and use scraps I had left over from some recent projects. Firstly, used my gel plate and Ranger Distress paints to colour white cardstock.  I loved the way they spread on the gel plate as I applied the paint prior to using brayer.  Another piece of brayered cardstock. Next, after paints were dry I cut to size and I applied texture paste.  Then once the paste was dry I used scraps of paper, stamps and ribbon to finish off the notebooks. More recent notebooks I made are below. I made these notebooks (actually about 20)  for charity fundraising. They are made with Kaisercraft papers and embellishments from my stash. Here are several of the little notebooks I have made using my gel plate prints.  I love that I am able to use the prints and not have them sitting around. This is the 21st layout I designed for the Kissi fundraising event yesterday.  It uses paper and stamps from Kaszazz Christmas Morning collection.   All product is available from Kaszazz.  The ladies used stamp ink to colour their chipboard pieces. Again another layout that enables many of those Christmas photos to be added. A good time was had by all and they all enjoyed learning new skills - even those that have done many scrapbooking classes with me. Thank you for looking, Margaret.

This is a double page layout using Kaszazz Tis'the Season collection of stamps and papers.  It is a modified version of a layout by Kerry Collins, a fellow Kaszazz Consultant.  Yesterday I lead a fund raising day of scrapbooking to raise funds for Skills for Life, Kissi Kenya.  The ladies completed two layouts this was the second one. I am leading a scrapbooking workshop this coming Saturday.  It is a fund raiser that will assist raise funds for a school in Kenya.   The ladies, most of whom I know, love to use new techniques to them. A long post follows, so please stay with me. The first is a single page layout and they will be making the following layout, which I have shared previously on my blog: The ladies will choose their own Dylusions Spray Inks to create their own background to match their photo of choice. Yesterday, I was the class leader of a scrapbooking day that raised funds for a school in Kissi, Kenya. Here are the layouts that I taught. Many people also contributed to the day with food, donations of goods etc. Thank you to everyone. I do not represent any particular company and use product from many sources.  Where possible today I have indicated those sources.  Melissa Kennedy owner of Unmistakable Creations kindly donated packs of Kaisercraft Marigold papers and stickers to the event.   Here is the first layout that they got to make  - now several of the ladies wanted to make a 'boy' page and in the pack was paper suitable for them to create a male version of the page.    The photo on my layout was taken on our April Cruise with Melissa - why not check out her website Unmistakable Creations  and see what cruises she has coming up. Yesterday, I participated in a cardmaking fundraiser for Kisii, a school in Kenya.  Here is the card I created for the ladies to make. It uses Tim Holtz Crazy Bird stamp and die, the background is Gorgeous Grunge from Stampin' Up! (SU) and the greeting also is SU.  I pre-stamped and cut the die before including in the bundle of goodies to make the card.  The bird has been watercoloured using SU markers. I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest - however despite searching for over an hour I was unable to find the original creator of card that inspired me - it had been copied and saved to many boards. So if you are out there and happen to read my blog, thank you. I love the Gorgeous Grunge stamps as you do not have to be precise in the placing of stamps, excellent for beginners and experienced cardmakers alike.
