Stamps Ahead

In my post yesterday I shared a single page layout I had created.  I have now added a pocket page to make it a double layout. This layout is for the current challenge at The Lollipop Ladies  is Boiled Lollies with the added challenge of curves.  Here is the inspiration photo. No holiday in the USA or Hong Kong is complete without a visit to See's Candies - this photo of my sister was taken at their Ala Moana store in Waikiki when we were there in December, last year. I searched my stash to find a suitable patterned paper (PP) and I think I was successful in matching the colours and roundness of the boiled lollies. I freehand cut the curved borders. I handmade the flowers by using scallop punch and punching out 5 in PP and 1 in cardstock (CS) then using small hole punch in the middle of each one.  The PP punches were then wet with water and scrunched up and then applied to the CS shape with a blingy brad and manipulated into the flower shape. It is a wet and miserable day today in Sydney - can't complain as it is the first rain for a long time.  I can feel my garden soaking it up. So today I did some scrapbooking.  Here is a layout from our holiday in Hawaii, last December. Unfortunately, due to the overcast weather the photos are not very clear. Tabitha had a challenge, over at Scrapbook Challenges , to use your stash.  Santa arrives on Waikiki Beach, Hawaii. December 2012 I have used cardstock (CS) that I have had for ages. I have not used the white CS previously as I was just not inspired until this photo taken in Waikiki, Hawaii last December. The christmas tree was from a card I got last year that I could not throw away. I had 3 star brads sitting lonely in a container - why? The rub-ons are old making memories style, remember when they came in a plastic container on a holder and you got many, many rub-ons. Unfortunately the rub-ons appear to have lost some of their stickyness over the years as they tended to separate as I was rubbing them onto the paper.

Scrapbook Challenges  has started a new year of challenges and this is a double layout I have completed. When I think of Hawaii some of the things I think about are beach, sun, sand, USA and I have tried to capture these in this layout. This was the layout, I changed the size of the photos.  I found the Bella paper called "Leaf" was just right for this.  I hope you agree. 

Today we are having heatwave conditions in Sydney, it is currently 43c at 5.18pm and it is hot, hot, hot. I found a cool part of my house out the back and created this page. Luckily no fires in my part of New South Wales and I hope that continues. I was inspired by a layout by Leanne Allinson in the magazine Scrapbooking with the experts No.2.   This photograph was taken on the balcony of our hotel in Waikiki.  I loved to sit and read my book or a magazine, look at the beach, or enjoy a sunset.  It was also a good viewing area for a Pearl Harbour 72nd anniversary parade on 7th December.  You can also see my double crown that sends hairdressers into a frenzy.  Oh, you have a double crown! No, you are the first to tell me!!!  I have heard this so many times. I have carried the relax theme and relaxed the edges of my cardstock, I sponged with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink and then "roughed up" with a wet cloth. Thank you Leanne for your inspiration....

Another challenge completed over at Scrapbook Challenges.  This time it was a challenge to use a previous SC sketch layout and then add: 4 patterned papers (I actually used 5 as the strip to the left seemed to blend into the background Card Stock. 1 fibre (twine, ribbon etc - I used ribbon that I ruched up as I used glue dots to adhere) Minimum 1 stamped image (My favourite Medallion Stamp from Stampin' Up!) Minimum 1 technique (ink, sanding, tearing etc I distresse the edges of wide blue strip to imitate the waves, and also use ink around the Memories title) Minimum 2 metal bits - around the ribbon and bottom left The photographs were taken earlier this month when my sister and I were walking along Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. Enjoy.  I am "on a roll" with my scrapbooking this weekend.
