Artist Trading Cards (ATC's)

Image
I am leaving a jet plane-----no I am leaving on a South Pacific cruise.  It is a scrapbook cruise with Unmistakeable Creations . One of the fun things to make are ATC's to swap and here are mine  We swap ATC's with each person (it is optional to participate) however I like to give one even if a person is not participating.   We do make them at little bigger than regular ATC's so that they fit into a pocket style page.  For mine I have used the following: a neutral kraft coloured cardstock. Edged with Distress Ink. torn corrugated card (mine came from a cut down delivery box). Edged with Distress Ink. tape I made with Distress inks and stocks (you will find this on the right-hand side of each ATC) tea dyed cheesecloth (was white but I dyed in a cup with hot water and about 5 tea bags, left for a while, removed and washed, then dried. 8 images from Darkroom Door Sheet (purchased at Wrapped in Paper, ACT) and 3 images that have been in my stash for ages - sor...

Vintage card

Image
This card has a very vintage vibe to it but it is modern in its colouring - I hope.   Yesterday, a friend gave me a Stampin'Up! stamp set called Style Beautiful - it was vintage 2011.  So, I made this card and shared it with her.   The ladies in my Friday community group will be making it this week. Inside - greeting from Darkroom Door everthing else from my stash. My card was inspired by a card I found on Pinterest, by Jessica Lamb in 2011, unfortunately she does not seem to have a current blog so I was unable to thank you for the inspiration.  I hope you like.   Margaret :)

Class cards and remember everything old is new again!

I wanted to share with you some cards I have designed recently for a card class I lead each Friday for a local community group. These two cards were made using handmade paper, distress inks (run across a clear block and then spritzed and applied to the paper) and a mixture of stamps I found in my stash.  I love them - the way that the distress ink reacted with the paper is 'magic'. This card uses a Darkroom Door stamp of the lady. Other embellishments were from my stash. This reminds of the old Ladies Home Journals that my mother, a dressmaker/tailor,  collected - they contained pattern paper of some of the clothes in the magazine.  I remember as a child being mesmerized by the images of film stars and their stories, the clothes.  Background paper was old pattern paper that I have collected over the years. In a recent post I share how I made a scrapbook layout using the technique of what I am calling faux watercolouring - I just new it would work on a ca...
