Stamps Ahead

This week I am departing on my scrapbooking cruise with Unmistakable Creations . We had been provided with a small mini canvas and easel to create a name tag.  We could use any technique and here is what I created. It will sit on our table in our conference room onboard. I wanted to try a something I had not done before, so off I went to internet to do some research and found Ranger Distress Glaze resist technique.  I must say I loved the result and I added a small cluster to top right so that I could incorporate my name and to cover up and area that I was not all that happy with. I used the following products: I sprayed the canvas with Dylusions Ink Sprays - Calypso Tea, Peony Blush, Vanilla Custard several times onto the canvas until I was happy with the result, drying in between and dabbing with a paper towel if too much water.  This layout is for a challenge over at ARTastic Challenge blog on facebook.   The challenge was to be inspired by this artwork by Adrian Feint called The Green Hen. The additional criteria was "feature things that fly in some way". I was really taken with the colours and the immediate thing that came to my mind was that time flies. I have used elements from two Kaisercraft its - Reminisce and Serenity.  I also used Dylusion Shimmer Spray to colour the chipboards and some sparkles from my stash.   The colours I selected also had to go with that orchid in my Diet Coke.  Some stamping as well to make my own background. The photo is of me celebrating my 70th birthday in Honolulu, Hawaii in December, 2019.  Time does fly 70 already - I can't believe it - I don't feel it - live is good! Today, I delved into the world of mixed media again.  Here are two tags I made testing out the skills required as I have a larger project in mind. In real life they have a sheen courtesy of Pewter Ranger Distress Spray.  Here is what they looked like before I added the spray inks over the gesso. I was inspired by this blog I found whilst looking for ideas.  It has been a great starting off point for me.   I have used Dylusions Sprays and finished the tag off with a spray of Pewter Ranger Distress Spray. What do you do when you lose your MOJO and there is a heap of inspiration out there?  Well, you get stuck right into creating.  This weekend I have been creating.  Here is a layout I have completed for a challenge over at Soul Scrappers - the challenge is random word challenge PHOTO and we were to use one of the following on our layout - Say Cheese; What a View: Snap: Camera Shy; Photo Bomb or Selfie.   I choose What a view.   Here is my layout. I took the photograph last year when I visited Central Australia.  It is of Kata Tjuta (also know as The Olgas).   I took a trip out to see them and do a walk around the rocks.  They are just as spectacular as Uluru (in fact they are larger in size). In search of inspiration that would do my photo justice I came across Scrapbook Boutique blog and there was a layout/video by Louise Turner that got my mojo going. I am leading a scrapbooking workshop this coming Saturday.  It is a fund raiser that will assist raise funds for a school in Kenya.   The ladies, most of whom I know, love to use new techniques to them. A long post follows, so please stay with me. The first is a single page layout and they will be making the following layout, which I have shared previously on my blog: The ladies will choose their own Dylusions Spray Inks to create their own background to match their photo of choice. Here is a layout I have created for a challenge over at White with 1 challenge blog - the challenge colour was S izzling Pink.... how could I resist.....one of my favourite colours. Here is my layout: The photo (very over exposed) was taken on 90mile beach in New Zealand in January - it was awesome to the extreme being there.  The skies were fabulous and the beach was beautiful with 4 wheel drive cars using the beach as a road.  Even a coffee cart was on the sand for those that needed their coffee fix. I have used all Kaszazz product on this layout, with the exception of acetate onto which I stamped the Large Vintage Clock then cut it out and the hearts that you can see - for these I used Wild Honey Oxide Distress ink (Quickly becoming a favourite ink) pressed into some bubble wrap that I received with hearts not spots! One of the reasons that I joined the Radiance of the Seas cruise that left Sydney on 3rd January, 2018 was that this cruise was a once in a lifetime chance to visit Tonga.  Tonga, featured largely in my childhood, it was a mission outpost and we regularly heard tales of this friendly island in my Sunday School days. Our first port of call in Tonga was Vavau. Settle back sail with me, it is a long post. Vava'u is a group of more than 50 islands, either coral limestone or coral atolls. The main town of Neiafu (known as the Port of Refuge Harbour) is a common destination for yachties sailing the South Pacific.  The waters are known for their clarity, it being said that you can see the bottom at 40 metres. Lots of places to explore tropical forests, limestone cliffs and caves to explore and traditional villages.  Yep, book a tender from ship to Naiafu in the morning and start exploring. I have had time to play around with Dylusions Ink Sprays and new to me Kaszazz products. Here is the layout I have designed inspired by a layout by Jess Williams for Kaszazz.   I have not been able to find any links for her, so if you are reading this Jess, thank you. Photo to be added. Lots of Dylusions Ink Spray - Pomegranate Seed, Dirty Martini and Slate Grey and stamping with Dylusions Paint - White Linen.  Everything used is available from Kaszazz and yes, I recently became a consultant!
