Here is a layout I completed today for the Take 3 challenge over at Soul Scrappers .  I have just made it the challenge finishes today. The choice to pick 3 from were - Sun Rays; Washi Tape; One photo; Scattered flowers; Stars; Commercial die cut title;  Watercolour on background or Handwritten journaling.  I went with Washi Tape on 3 sides of my Star patterned paper, More stars, Commercial die cut - Treasured Moments Together and Handwritten journaling. The photos of Oscar, my great nephew were taken in December 2020 at a family Christmas/birthday picnic in Wollongong, NSW.  My sister (and I) took him to the park.  He loved all the rides -even this one! I came across the Robert Baden-Powell (founder of the world-wide Scout Movement) die cut quote in may stash and whilst it may not be the most appropriate in this day and age, it was appropriate for this layout.  Oscar saying FASTER, FASTER, FASTER whilst his great aunts are like NOT TO FAST, HANG ON, DON'T STAND UP!!!  We needed to

Remembering the 50's

I got an early start on designing cards for the community class I lead this coming Friday.  Here are the cards - this week the cards highlight tags/inserts on them. The design of this card was inspired by one I saw in the book "Card Sketches for Paper Crafters"  by Papercraft Magazine 2012,   Sometimes, when I need inspiration I will head to Pinterest, blog surf or to this book or others I have in my collection - they are dated but they provide the inspiration to start designing.  This cards uses retired Kaszazz papers and current stamps Birthday Girl and Your Wings Exist. As well as butterfly die.  I have used coloured pencils for the butterfly and other bits and pieces from my stash. The Gift card die was by Sizzix. This card was inspired by one I found on Pinterest by Monique, however the link to the original card shows that it was no longer current.  So Monique, if by any chance you stumble across my blog - thank you.  Again, the card features retired Kaszazz papers.  The

When life gives you lemons - go to "the office"

You probably first thought - what why head to the office when things are not going as planned!  No worries, this office overlooks the beautiful Ocean Beach, Umina Beach, Lion Island at the furtherest point is Palm Beach.  Someone obviously had a sense of humour and it is in a popular spot when you walk along The Esplanade.  I took this photo at the beginning of Covid 19 in the summer of 2020 during one of my walks. I completed this layout for a challenge over at White with 1 Summer Cyber Crop . This is for the first challenge which was to select ONE colour used in the word board below to be added with white and then select ONE of the words which must be included in the title.   I selected the yellowish colour and then the word Lemonade and I made play on "When life.......lemons" I used all Kaszazz products on this layout (with the exception of the black alphas and retired alcohol markers) from Kaszazz Mediterranean Collection.    Thank you for looking, why not head over to Wh

Using die cuts on your card

I have busy preparing for classes I lead at a local community group.  Here are the 2 cards I designed for this week that all use dies. The dies used here - Kaszazz Hexagon Nesting Stitch and Sizzix Wildflower Stems #1. This card uses the Kaszazz Sea Horse die.   The background and sea horse are made of Ranger Distress Oxides blended in, then spritzed with water that has Perfect Pearls powder (available from Kaszazz) added to it to give additional shine. Thank you for looking, Margaret

Sea Shells by the Sea Shore.

Here is a layout and card I have designed using all Kaszazz products.  Each month Kaszazz put out a challenge for all consultants to design a project using a certain criteria.  For March it is to use the 3 SB (patterned papers) from the Coastal Oasis collection. I have only used products available from Kaszazz. The stamps I have used are River Bank Un-cut set; Sea Shells; and the greeting on the card is crom Word Montage-Paradise.  I have used half a sheet of Sea Shells chipboard.  I have used Princess Gold embossing powder on the chipboard and the stamp images - don't forget that you need and embossing ink and I have used Distress Inkpad - Clear Embossing.  The chipboard has been attached with Distress Collage Medium. Do you remember being challenged to chant this rhyme/tongue twister: 'She sells sea shells by the seashore" and repeat 5 times.  Did you know it has been around for over 100 years. The story itself goes back even further than that, almost a century farther,

Once you start - you just can't stop!

Was this not an advertisement at some time?   I am talking about pyramid/teepee cards here.  Yesterday, I made a version of the card suitable for the adventurous in your life. As you turn the pyramid around you will see the remainder of the card. The inside greeting. Paper is a retired Kaszazz paper however the stamps are in the current catalogue - Off Road Un-Cut set (4 stamps you see above) and the greeting is from Word Montage - Winners (5 stamps).  If you are interested in purchasing these stamps you can visit my Kaszazz website  ww.kaszazz.com/cart?consid=110787 . Thank you for looking. Margaret

Family history documented

Image
I just realised I had not posted my 1st week of February Friday Favourites at Paper Issues (Friends and Fans) and I wanted to keep on top of documenting my life.  Well, better late than never. Here is what I have created as #5/52 (not a scrapbook layout this time). Recently several of my family members have become interested in family history and are completing family trees.  They are from both sides of my family - my cousin taking on my mother's side (she was one of 8 children) and my niece researching my father's side.  I have been assisting both of them with photos and information that I have.  It is easy to get caught up in the research. The photo above (I took a photo of the original and then copied myself) is of my maternal great-grandparents John and Agnes Orr.  The Orr's lived in Launceston, Tasmania and this is where my grandmother grew up.  A lot of the photographs I have are from an old suitcase that came to my father and I when his brother passed away and his

Sometimes you just go 'wow'

One of the joys of leading a card class each week, is that I find new and interesting ways to create cards.  Here are two cards that the participants are making this coming Friday. This is a fancy fold called a pyramid or teepee card.  The idea for the card came from a card my sister received from a friend for her recent birthday.  I first searched the internet and came across many videos and posts on how the card was made.   I decided to go with double-sided patterned paper (retired Kaszazz papers) that has weight to it.  The participants can choose what side of the paper they want to use.  Hand-made flowers and scroll complete the front of the card.  The card has been closed with very thin magnets.   Greeting is inside the pyramid/teepee.  The card will fold flat for postage. This card use a stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey 'Lovely Day' and a die from 'Albums made Easy-Instagram' by We R Memory Keepers.  I have coloured simply with Alcohol Ink Markers. After die cu
