Does my face look long!

The weekend I am participating in an on-line retreat with Hillbilly Scrappin" called Do you see what I see (DYCWIS). I have signed up for several of the classes.  Here is a journal page I have created with a class led by Marlene of ART BY MARLENE (ABM).

A little out of my comfort zone - but hey need to do that sometimes!   Mostly using paints and pencils from my stash.  I did use ABM Paper Pad Multi Color Madness (ABM-26-DPP417) and ABM Sticky Multi Glue 28ML - all available from Hillbilly Scrappin'.

We were encouraged to free-hand draw our options for how we would tackle this - Marlene provided some examples in her video.  Well, all I can say is I could not draw regular looking faces - below see how I started off - scary stuff!!!  I was inspired by a kid's You-tube!! On the right I tried another drawing same as the first by cut down middle! Scarier!!!  

So, I was not happy - so I went with geometric shaped face and features!  Happier.  We were also to draw planned facial elements etc for our portrait separately on paper and then cut out after painting.  Here is what is left of my drawings - so you get an idea of how I did! 
I did enjoy the process and did learn a lot - shown to you warts and all!

Ocean Beach - Summer 2016 - Shell in your pocket

This past week I went down to 'my' beaches - Ocean Beach to Umina Beach taking my Samsung Tablet with me as I wanted to take a panorama shot.  This is the view I have after I have walked just 100 steps from my front gate and up and over a small sand dune - I never tire of this view. I have completed this layout for a challenge over at ARTastic Challenge Blog .  The challenge was to be inspired by the following artwork  -Bondi Scene by Isabelle May Tweddle. The criteria was Summer. Some particulars - I have raised the main photo with foam tape - both the photo and the corrugated blue mount. In real life it gives the impression of raising above the sand image on the patterned paper. I have used paper, stickers and die cuts from Kaisercraft Sandy Toes collection and scattered hessian twine, pearls and sparkles randomly. Make Amazing Happen

I have decided to play along with a challenge over at Pixels and Paper challenge blog  - here is my layout.  The challenge was to use distressing in some form on your layout. On the recent long weekend I travelled up to Brisbane to Scrapbook and Paper Expo and one of the classes I did with Beck Beattie was playing with all different backgrounds using watercolour paints. This background was made by sweeping 3 colours from a palette of watercolour paints across the white background. See photo below for what I mean by a palette.  I think I got these many years ago in America and have never used them.....until today. The photo is of Beck Beattie and I taken on the weekend. I then coloured some whitecard stock with the colours I used for background and a green to make the flowers and leaves and to embellish the title "Make Amazing Happen".  I used my scissors to distress the edges, then scrunched them up, then sprayed with water and allowed to dry. The case

Here is my layout for a challenge over at Pixels and Paper challenge blog: The challenge was to be inspired by the following photo and the criteria was Vintage Style.  Of course I was inspired by the suitcase in the inspiration image. About my photos - several years ago my Uncle George (Dad's brother) passed away and his wife gave us this suitcase full of photographs and memories.  Well, what a find it turned out to be.  My Dad was still alive at this time and he could identify some of the photographs inside.  I have subsequently made several layouts showcasing some of the photos - more still to be done.   It was an eye-opener to my maternal Grandmother's side of the family.  My father's parents were travelers (is this where I got my travel spirit from?) they would travel by coach, train and car to places within Australia and kept notes, postcards, photos and brochures etc from their trips.  It is family folklore that t...
