A moment in time

Here is a layout I have completed for a random word challenge over at Soul Scrappers
The theme was "TIME" and we were to be inspired by one of the following themes..

1.REMEMBER WHEN
2. THEN and NOW
3.MEMORY OR MEMORIES
4. TODAY
5. ALWAYS ON MY MIND
6. MOMENT IN TIME

Of course, I went with "MOMENT IN TIME".  Whilst I was staying with my friend Kathy and her husband in Detroit, Kathy took me to the mansion home of Edsel and Eleanor Ford in Gross Pointe and the shores of  Lake Le Clair . It was constructed in Cotswold-style with most of the materials used to construct their 60 room family home imported from England.  England held a fascination to Edsel.
He was the sole heir to the Ford Motor Company.  They moved into the home in 1929 and he sadly passed away in 1943.  His widow, Eleanor continued to live in the home until her death in 1976.  It was her wish that the property be used for "the benefit of the public".  Many of the art works are on loan to local art galleries.
This was a family home, there was no children's wing as was popular amongst the rich of the time and indeed the two brothers shared a room (their choice) until they left the family home and many state of the art inventions were incorporated into the home.
It was a fabulous home to visit unfortunately we were only allowed to take photographs in one room of the house - the visitor parlor room/ball room.  The home is faithfully maintained by trustees and they are indeed used for benefit of the public - Kathy remembers attending Christmas fireworks there.
One interesting fact, Edsel had a miniature scale version of house constructed on the property for his daughter, fully functional with heating, bedroom, sitting/lounge room, kitchen, bedroom and it is said she really did not use it all that much as she preferred being outside playing with her brothers.
From the shores of the lake you can view Canada.
Thank you for looking, indeed a home frozen in time!
Margaret.
