Knitting a scarf or two!

Image
Is it possible to become addicted to a knitting pattern?  I am saying yes!!! The scarf is a knitted ruffle and I absolutely adore it. Here I am with the one I knitted for myself. It uses wool yarn from Rowan and the pattern is so simple! My sister purchased the yarn in England recently.  Here is a closer look at the completed scarf: I have also made her one in her favourite colour of soft blue.   No - I did not stop there - this year I have been making woollen scarves and beanies for charity, my neighbour had been given a bag full of 10 ply plus yarns that her regular knitters will not use - I said okay I will take them and see what I can do.  I have lot count of how many I have knitted for local women's shelters, homeless etc.  The pattern is quick to knit up and suitable for all yarn types.  I did use several other patterns I found on the internet but I always came back to the ruffle. Oh, and last night I branched out and started a simple child's cardigan.  There wil

Today I am showing a card I made using Kaisercraft Outdoor Trail paper range and their square card/envelope. It is mighty cold here and wet here today so staying inside and designed more cards and doing a little scrapbooking is in order.  Keep warm, Margaret

Turkish Delight

Image
My sister has been on holidays that included Turkey and one of the things that she did was visit a Turkish Delight factory and no doubt got to try the goods.   I have made this layout for her photos - she just needs to do journaling and put a title.   Don't those half circles remind you of Turkish Delight on a shelf just waiting to be sampled!! Details of the half circles. I have used mainly Kaisercraft Oh So Lovely papers and embellishments and I looked for other papers that had Turkish patterns or rose. I have in fact not adhered the pink strip at the bottom as I do not know whether she has landscape or portrait photos. The inspiration for this layout was Soul Scrappers challenge 27 where we were encouraged to lift this layout by Melissa Mann for Scrapbook circle.                                                Thank you for looking, Margaret :)

A little bit of fun and getting messy - Splat!!!

At the recent scrapbooking retreat I was at the theme was Music and on the Saturday night it was dress up in a musical theme. From left here we are as Bob Marley (Jane created a fake cigarette from rolled up paper), Yellow Wiggle and I am Julie Andrews and I did a play on the Sound of Music song "These are a few of my favourite things." And of course, I sang it with actions prancing around the room - the basket I am holding is full of my favourite things that I sang about: Splotches on pages and washi tape everywhere Bright coloured markers and warm coloured paper Brown paper packages tied up with twine These are a FEW of my favourite things Cream colored flowers and Distress inks and glitter on pages Wild ideas that fly with the moon on their wings These are a FEW of my favourite things Layouts with ‘sparkle’ and ‘wow’ Snowflakes that stay on my floor and my table Silver white glitter that goes everywhere These are a FEW of my favour

Challenge YOUrself

Image
Found a challenge over at Challenge Yourself  where the criteria was "Anything Goes" and had to include YOU that is ME in the layout. Also there was another "Anything Goes" challenge at 2 Creative Chicks and their criteria no cards (layouts, knitting, crocheting it seems anything goes is right - I may just finish my scarf I am knitting). Here is my layout: I was inspired by a layout by Laura Vegas for Bella Bvld that I have used previously.  This time I used papers mainly from Fancy Pants Designs called Collecting Moments.  The are other papers and embellishments that I have included. I love the pockets that you can use for journaling or other memorabilia. It also allows you to use anywhere from 8 photos (if cropped to 2" x 2") or more if you put some in the pockets.  Here is a close up of the pockets: The photographs were taken at a recent scrapbook retreat - friends Jane and Margaret B are in the centre photograph and the others show me scrapping
