Hawaii, 2012

Another challenge completed over at Scrapbook Challenges.  This time it was a challenge to use a previous SC sketch layout and then add:
  • 4 patterned papers (I actually used 5 as the strip to the left seemed to blend into the background Card Stock.
  • 1 fibre (twine, ribbon etc - I used ribbon that I ruched up as I used glue dots to adhere)
  • Minimum 1 stamped image (My favourite Medallion Stamp from Stampin' Up!)
  • Minimum 1 technique (ink, sanding, tearing etc I distresse the edges of wide blue strip to imitate the waves, and also use ink around the Memories title)
  • Minimum 2 metal bits - around the ribbon and bottom left
The photographs were taken earlier this month when my sister and I were walking along Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.

Enjoy.  I am "on a roll" with my scrapbooking this weekend.

January Cyberchallenge - punched flowers.

Images:(c)1990-2010 Stampin'Up(r) Artwork:Margaret L Crawford Our INKlings cyberchallenges have began for 2010. Tonight our leader, Jayne is setting the challenges. Our first challenge is to use SU punches to make a paper flower and use it on a card, scrapbook page or 3D item. I have used the round scallop punch (each flower has 3 punched scallops), cut a small way into each scallop and then pushed back to create a 3-D effect then I added a rhinestone brad to the centre of each flower. I used my markers to colour the leaves and then spritzed with water before adding to card. Challenge 1 completed.

The trees were black sentries.

The challenge over at ARTastic Challenges , this month,  is to be inspired by this work by Barbara Hanrahan called The Dog, The Cat.  Criteria was to use a quote or saying. This month at Book Club we were to read a book with a one word title.  I knew in my book collection I had just such a book and so I read "therapy" by Jonathon Kellerman.  A psychological mystery. I was reading Chapter 22, when I saw the quote on my layout - instantly it reminded me of the photos I took on Christmas Day 2014 of Umina Beach, the time was 8.30am.  I then saw this challenge - the mind clicked into gear "that's how I can capture the feeling of this day. Here is my layout: A very clean and simple layout to achieve - of course it is - but it took me a long time to actually get to this point and then today - it all came together.   On typing the quote into my computer I was drawn to part where he writes "The trees were black sentries".  Sentries are defined in...
