Taster Workshops at make create express 2025

This weekend I have been watching and creating with talented artists, from around the world, in Free Taster Sessions.  Here are the results of two classes I completed.

From a class with Meaghan Early - Fabric Found Word Clusters.  My words were found in an old poetry book and I found myself reciting the poems as I searched for just the right word.
This was a class with Lisa Goddard - Affirmation boxes in fabric and paper. This is the front the matchbox (available, if you live in Australia at Spotlight in a pack of 6) - all sides were decorated. I have also used gesso, paint and charms.  Slide the drawer up and here is the middle. Also shown is the back of the box.

I have created this box for a friend who is celebrating a milestone birthday and tomorrow we are meeting for lunch - this will be her birthday 'card'.  Rather, than create a specific birthday theme I decided to go with a box that could be opened any day of the year.  I will be making more of these - as I love them. #makecreateexpress25

Ocean Beach - Summer 2016 - Shell in your pocket

This past week I went down to 'my' beaches - Ocean Beach to Umina Beach taking my Samsung Tablet with me as I wanted to take a panorama shot.  This is the view I have after I have walked just 100 steps from my front gate and up and over a small sand dune - I never tire of this view. I have completed this layout for a challenge over at ARTastic Challenge Blog .  The challenge was to be inspired by the following artwork  -Bondi Scene by Isabelle May Tweddle. The criteria was Summer. Some particulars - I have raised the main photo with foam tape - both the photo and the corrugated blue mount. In real life it gives the impression of raising above the sand image on the patterned paper. I have used paper, stickers and die cuts from Kaisercraft Sandy Toes collection and scattered hessian twine, pearls and sparkles randomly. Make Amazing Happen

I have decided to play along with a challenge over at Pixels and Paper challenge blog  - here is my layout.  The challenge was to use distressing in some form on your layout. On the recent long weekend I travelled up to Brisbane to Scrapbook and Paper Expo and one of the classes I did with Beck Beattie was playing with all different backgrounds using watercolour paints. This background was made by sweeping 3 colours from a palette of watercolour paints across the white background. See photo below for what I mean by a palette.  I think I got these many years ago in America and have never used them.....until today. The photo is of Beck Beattie and I taken on the weekend. I then coloured some whitecard stock with the colours I used for background and a green to make the flowers and leaves and to embellish the title "Make Amazing Happen".  I used my scissors to distress the edges, then scrunched them up, then sprayed with water and allowed to dry. Today.............

Today I created another layout from our cruise in April.  Here my sister and I are dressed for a cocktail party that our group had on our final evening of cruising.   I was inspired by a 2013 layout by Marie-Pierre Capistran   that I found whilst web surfing. Thank you for your inspiration and I have left her some thanks on her blog. Using Distress Stains I diluted them and applied to paper with brush in long random strokes.  A Mason Jar Stamp by Heartfelt Creations was then added when the ink had dried.  At the same time as painting I also painted onto a scrap of paper to use for embellishments.   Splotches of the paint were added randomly. I do not usually work in pastel colours and overall I love the result.  I just need to add some journaling. Thank you for looking, Margaret :)
