Breakthrough sculpture-Winston Churchill Museum-Fulton, MO, USA

One of the most interesting finds of my holiday in USA this year was the Winston Churchill Museum, in Fulton, Missouri.   Located in grounds of the Museum was this sculpture called Breakthrough Sculpture.
The artist was Edwina Sandys, a granddaughter of Winston Churchill. From the Winston Churchill Museum website: "One year after the November 9, 1989, fall of the Berlin Wall, artist Edwina Sandys, granddaughter of Winston Churchill, introduced her "Breakthrough" sculpture to a crowd of 7,000 people gathered on the campus of Westminster College. The 11-foot-high by 32-foot-long structure, perhaps the most important monument to be constructed on American soil since the Vietnam War Memorial, began as a dream in the mind of its sculptor." The sculpture comprises 8 pieces of the Berlin Wall.  Read more about it and why there is a Winston Churchill Museum in the USA.
My layout was inspired by Make it Monday 29 at The Memory Nest and it had the added criteria of mixed media element. I had a mixed media background that I created, a couple of weeks ago,  but did not like and was just about to throw it away. Of course, I found that it was ideal for this layout.

This close up shows some of the background I created - I first used torn bits of paper, then distress inks on white background, next came the paint, the golden texture paint, and stamping.  Today, I added the droplets of Gelato to echo those in the sculpture. There are bits of another piece that I was going to throw away. A mixture of stickers add to the whole graffiti look.  If you look closely at the sculpture you will see that the artist has put her initials and a figure on bottom left of one of the pieces.  I replicated that with my initials and a smiley face on my layout.
Two layouts in one day - on a roll - well actually my sister has been in hospital and rehab and I am taking a break from visiting today - so what better way to relax than get the mojo going.  Thanks for looking.  Margaret :)
